“Sleep is needed”
“Sleep is important”
“I need 10hrs of sleep to function”
“I need a minimum of 12 hours sleep”
“The body needs minimum 8 hours to function”
Everyone has an opinion on what is the right amount of sleep and what time you should wake and go to bed.
There are findings that prove each and everyone’s point.
Before I started out on my journey I would sleep late and wake up early. My sleep pattern was something along the lines of sleeping at 1 or 2am and waking up around 5 or 6 in the morning. Yes yes I know that’s not enough. I need more time for my body to recover but it is what it is.
You can’t tell someone what the right amount of sleep is needed for them it’s different for each and every person.
No rule is synonymous for all.
It’s a bit of a rant but I have this discussion with people time and time again and many have an opinion on what is the right amount of sleep.
The terms “studies show” comes up a lot and that’s when you hear about these tests and research and Wikipedia and Google come in really handy. Someone will google “the right amount of sleep” find one headline not even the article that supports their statement and then there it is they are right.
But I’m sorry you aren’t no one is. It’s what works for you.
Case in point I ride in the desert often and I drink water like a fish on a loop of 50km I can go through 2litres of water then again I sweat like I’m in a sauna which recently with the temperatures during the summer it might have been easier to cycle in the sauna anyway that’s how much I drink on a ride but I know people who do the same distance without a drop of water.
It’s not about what’s right or wrong for everyone it’s about what’s right or wrong for you so figure that out and you’ll be fine.
